The Method
How MCP Tutor works
01
Download Claude
MCP Tutor runs entirely inside Claude — the desktop app or Claude.ai on the web. This is not a separate learning platform; it is a connector that gives Claude access to your training curriculum and progress records.
Employees use the same Claude they already have. The training happens in conversation, the way Claude is meant to be used.
Requires Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise subscription, or the free tier with connector access enabled.
02
Sign up and get connector links
When you create an MCP Tutor account, you get a unique URL for each employee. This URL is their personal connector — it identifies them to the training server and records their progress.
The URL looks like: mcptutor.com/mcp/acme-corp/abc123def456
No passwords, no separate logins for employees — their connector URL is their identity. Managers generate and distribute links from the dashboard.
03
Add the connector in Claude
In Claude, go to Settings → Connectors and add the personal URL. This takes about thirty seconds. Once added, the connector stays active — employees do not need to re-add it.
The connector gives Claude read access to training content and write access to that employee's own progress records. It cannot read other employees' data, access other systems, or take any other action.
04
Tell Claude to start training
The employee opens Claude and says: “Start my training.”From that point, Claude takes over.
Claude fetches the current chapter, teaches the material in its own words, answers questions, and then presents a demonstration prompt. The employee writes a response. Claude evaluates it against the rubric and either passes them or gives specific feedback and invites a retry.
When they pass, Claude records the completion, unlocks the next chapter, and offers to continue or take a break.
The important distinction
All teaching happens inside Claude.
This website is for tracking and management only.
MCP Tutor does not run any AI. It is a thin server that stores curriculum content, reads and writes progress records, and shows managers what their team has completed. The actual instruction — the explanation, the dialogue, the assessment — is all Claude. This means the training scales with Claude's capability and never goes stale.
For managers
The dashboard
Managers and admins can log in to the MCP Tutor web dashboard to see their team's progress. The dashboard shows:
- Completion percentage per employee
- Chapter-by-chapter status across the team
- Every demonstration attempt with Claude's full assessment
- Time-to-complete per chapter
The demonstration audit trail is the product's core value for compliance and L&D teams: a timestamped record of what each employee was asked, what they wrote, and whether Claude judged it sufficient.
